The LCTA PTA wishes you a very Happy Holiday break and best wishes for a healthy and prosperous new year!
The elves of the PTA were busy this past weekend transforming the teacher’s lounge from a dreary cluttered space to a bright new, contemporary lounge. The room was updated with some; paint, IKEA furniture, home goods/home depot and Costco runs along with some old fashioned elbow grease. It was a busy weekend and the PTA executive board is grateful to parent volunteers who helped us with this project; Maria Pollard, Matias Palavecino, Kristen Quinlan Boyce, Luciano Boglione, Dave McClaury and Kendall Bodnar. See here for before and after pictures.
The PTA is pleased to announce that with the success of the recent walkathon, The PTA is sponsoring the purchase of robotics kits and 3 new 3D printers for our students. 3D printers are a great device for enhancing STEAM education and we are delighted that our students will begin to access to them in 2019! LCTA will be the only ACPS elementary school with 3D printers.

Character Counts-Remember your baked goods-Dec 20th!!
Showing our gratitude to our first responders the Alexandria police and firefighters. Please consider bringing baked goods to the office on Thursday morning. That afternoon we plan to deliver goods to the police station and certain firehouses right after school. We’ll meet right in front of the school at pick up. We’ve had a good number volunteer to deliver these baked goods but the more the merrier. In order to best show our gratitude and appreciation, we really need the entire school community to consider baking some goodies and bringing them in. We will be arranging them in trays for the police station and each firehouse— so no need to package individually. Anything you are willing to bring is appreciated. Thanks for being a part of the character Counts program— it is our actions that make a difference!!
Please consider Nurse Wood and her family this holiday season. Currently we are offering the family support through
A GO FUND ME-in hopes of providing a memorable vacation for the family.
