Sprout School Supplies Pick-up: Final Day! TODAY, 10am - 12pm Please come curbside to the front of the school if you ordered school supplies through Sprout Meeting Notes from our 8/25 Webinar with Dr. Zissios Thank you to those who participated in our Q&A session with Dr. Zissios last week. We had a record-breaking turnout and covered a lot of important ground. You can find the minutes from the meeting HERE. A special thanks to Margaret McKinnon, Secretary of our Executive Board, for her detailed note taking. And of course a heart-felt thanks to Dr. Zissios, Ms. Ricks, Ms. Bustard, and Ms. Molihan for talking us through the upcoming school year. Nuts and Bolts, Wednesday September 16, 7pm Our next school community webinar meeting will be Nuts & Bolts. This is an opportunity to learn more about the inner-workings of LCTA: in-depth overview of school programs, Core Knowledge curriculum, Canvas, PBIS, socialization virtually, etc. Alexandria Councilman Canek Aguirre will attend this meeting. We will send out the webinar details at a later date. Chromebooks / Tablets If you were not able to pick up your tablet or chromebook on 8/31, the make-up day is this Friday, 9/4 from 8am - 12pm at GW Middle School. This is for students in grades K-3 only and newly enrolled students in any grade. If your student is a returning fourth or fifth grader and needs a device, please complete the chromebook request form. Even if you do not currently have a chromebook in your possession, returning 4th/ 5th graders will still need to go through the Helpdesk to secure a device. The Helpdesk can be reached at: helpdesk@acps.k12.va.us And: They live up to their name! They are indeed helpful (and responsive). If you are unable to pick up your device on 8/31 or 9/4, please contact the school’s front office. A Message from the 360 Inclusion Committee September is Hispanic Heritage Awareness Month, which will officially begin on September 15th. The 15th was selected because that marks the independence days of five Latin American countries - Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Did you know that Sonia Sotomayor, who was confirmed in 2009, is the first Hispanic person to serve as a Justice of the United States Supreme Court? The idea is for students and families to get outside to "walk the block" around their neighborhood before logging on to Virtual Plus+ the first day of school.
